Farming at The Fork  
Farming

To fully appreciate our farming practices, you have to go back a century or two. Like North Carolina’s earliest farms, the Fork’s food plots are small, diversified, and in balance with the native habitat. Corn, sorghum, milo, Japanese millet, sunflowers, partridge pea, and switchgrass provide food and cover for deer, duck, quail, rabbits, and wild turkeys.

Surrounding The Fork stables are 100 acres of fenced pastures. We cut hay, award-winning alfalfa, MaxQ™ endophyte-free foraging fescue, and cool-season orchard grass. NC State University conducts ongoing research on our grasses, working to improve on what are already considered to be drought and disease resistant, high quality nourishment for horses.
